As part of Egypt’s Vision 2030 plan, the government has pledged to fully meet the energy needs of the whole country, to promote economic growth and national competitiveness. The national utility provider has selected Schneider Electric to convert the country’s national electric distribution network into a future-ready smart grid. The agreement, which was signed July 12th, includes the establishment of four control centers that will monitor and optimize the electricity network, as well as over 12,000 smart ring main units that will be installed throughout the national network. The project, which is worth over 4.6 Billion Egyptian Pounds, has a timeline of 18 months.

Over one-third of global CO2 emissions are related to the power grid.
